Alliance of Cambridge Advisors (ACA) is an alliance of fee-only financial advisors providing service to clients throughout the United States. To be a member of this alliance, the advisors must have credentials and experience within the field of financial planning. This alliance allows members access to research and products which they may use to better serve clients, as well as offering a network of experienced professionals as a resource. All members must be free from commission and referral fee revenue, conform to a Canon of Ethics, and maintain industry credentials.
The National Association of Personal Financial Advisors (NAPFA) is the largest association of fee-only planners in the United States. The organization is committed to a three-pronged approach to financial planning. It endorses comprehensive planning that must be updated and augmented as clients? needs and situations change. The organization requires the demonstration of competence from its members in the achievement of appropriate credentials, extensive industry experience, and the submission of an acceptable financial plan for review by their peers. NAPFA also requires a fee-only compensation structure where by no compensation is received from commissions or referral fees.
The Financial Planning Association (FPA) is a membership organization for the financial planning community. Members include individuals and companies who have contributed to building the financial planning profession and all those who champion the financial planning process. The FPA is dedicated to supporting the financial planning process in order to help people achieve their goals and dreams. The FPA believes that everyone needs objective advice to make smart financial decisions and that when seeking the advice of a financial planner, the planner should be a Certified Financial Planner.
National Association of Tax Professionals (NATP) This organization provides support and research for professionals who prepare tax returns. They provide continuing education and updates on tax issues. Additionally, their excellent research department provides answers to specific questions to meet the needs of its members in providing tax advice for clients.
American Institute of Certified Tax Coaches (AICTC) Certified Tax Coaches are a leading group of tax professionals who are specially trained in the art of long term, proactive tax planning. In addition to their standard certifications and tax degrees, Certified Tax Coaches are required to complete comprehensive education focusing on high-impact tax planning strategies. Certified Tax Coaches are also required to adhere to the American Institute of Certified Tax Coaches Code of Ethics which provides assurance that the strategies and ideas used to create your plan stay within the boundaries of the law. The AICTC upholds a strict Code of Ethics to ensure the highest standards of integrity and excellence among its members.
An Enrolled Agent (EA) is a federally-authorized tax practitioner who has technical expertise in the field of taxation and who is empowered by the U.S. Department of the Treasury to represent taxpayers before all administrative levels of the Internal Revenue Service for audits, collections, and appeals.
The National Association of Enrolled Agents (NAEA) is a national association of over 11,000 independent, licensed tax professionals called Enrolled Agents (EA). The association is dedicated to helping its members maintain the highest level of knowledge, skills and professionalism in all areas of taxation, so that their members may most effectively represent the needs of their clients.
Members of NAEA are required to complete a minimum of 30 hours of continuing professional education each year in the interpretation, application and administration of federal and state tax laws in order to maintain membership in the organization. This requirement surpasses the IRS required minimum of 16 hours per year.
